Resources and Support for Sex Addicts

Recovering from sex addiction is difficult without help. You don't have to do it alone.

Many others have walked in your shoes. With help, you can recover.

Recovering from compulsive sexual behavior, or sex addiction, is most often accomplished through a combination of 12-step program participation and addiction-recovery therapy.

There are several different 12-step programs that address sex addiction using the tools and principles of Alcoholics Anonymous, which have been adapted to apply to sex addiction. Many addicts have followed the 12 Steps over the years to a life free from addictive behaviors.

There are some differences between the groups in their definitions of sobriety and healthy sexuality; some groups do not have meetings in all areas of the country. If you cannot find a meeting near you, most groups offer telephone and online meetings as well.
